If you like audio notifications, in case you didn't know, you can enable different audio cues in VS Code in your settings. Type "Audio Cues" in your settings search box, and you'll see about 20 settings come up in the results.

Audio Cues in VS Code

You'll notice by default all the Audio Cues settings are set to either "off" or "auto". The "auto" value enables the audio cue only if a screen reader is attached, as the text description explains when you hover over the "auto" option.

So for most users, the Audio Cues will be turned off, but you can enable any of them as you like. Some useful ones might include:

  • When the active line has a warning or an error
  • When a debugger stops a breakpoint
  • Terminal command failed
  • When the current line has an inline suggestion
And naturally, VS Code allows you to adjust the volume of the Audio Cues sound. It's the first result when searching "Audio Cues" or the last one if you search for "audiocues" (or just search "audiocues volume").

The sound volume can be adjusted by setting a value from 0-100.
